How Do We Make Our Prayer Life Last?

It seems to me we make our prayer life consistent and last by persistent practice on a daily basis, through good days and bad days, ups and downs, lack and plenty, through patience and petitions.

It must be linked with trust in God. Isn’t this how we prevail? If we trust in the steadfast love of God we can be like the olive tree, one of the longest-lasting trees according to Psalm 52:8-9.

But I am like an olive tree
    flourishing in the house of God;
I trust in God’s unfailing love
    for ever and ever.
For what you have done I will always praise you
    in the presence of your faithful people.
And I will hope in your name,
    for your name is good.
