WEEKLY DEVOTION – SEPTEMBER 7, 2020
“Choices”
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, who meditates on his law day and night. Psalm 1
The Psalmist in this beautiful psalm reminds us that our lives are blessed with choices. We can choose our disposition each day, we can choose our focus, and we can choose the direction our lives will take. There are two fundamental ways lying before each and everyone of us, good and bad.
If we choose the bad, we bring down destruction upon our lives and the lives of those who love us and who are the closet to us. The psalm indicates that those who choose the wicked ways of life are without stable foundations, and in some cases simply aimless in life. The wicked will not have the benefit of enjoying life in the presence of God and will ultimately go the way of destruction.
On the other hand, the righteous will find spiritual nourishment by meditating on the Word and Mind of God. This way leads to solid foundations and a blessed life, filled with the joy of the Lord and the protective eye of Creator God.
As we study the two ways that represent two choices, we can declare, that there is only one choice that makes any sense whatsoever, the way of the Lord!
Dear God, I choose you and your way for my life. Guide me with your love and salvation, and I will live the rest of my days, praising your Holy name. Amen
