Faith: Wading Through Troubled Waters

In crisis, we must ask: Who are we? What is our mission? What is the nature of the relationship between leaders and followers? How do we learn to listen with faith and discernment? As a community, what evils must be named, examined, transformed, and driven out? Are we willing to go beyond the denial and the blaming to examine the entire situation and to explore our part in the process that caused our pain? Are we willing to be made well and whole? Are we willing to no longer be victims and/or scapegoats? Every day, God invites us to live in present time, to name the evils, to expose them, to evaluate them, to wait prayerfully for God to heal us as we take steps to heal ourselves, to begin rebuilding.

God, grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can,

And the wisdom to know the difference.
