WEEKLY DEVOTION -JANUARY 03, 2021
“We Are Not Alone”
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
It is so comforting to know at the beginning of this New Year that we are not alone. We have been on a whirlwind of human experiences and emotions having lived through the year behind us. And, most, if not all, will say “good riddance” to the last year.
But there are still many who are filled with fear facing an uncertain future, and knowing that what brought so much depression, despair, and discouragement last year, we carry into the New Year. Therefore, a promise like this one found in the latter portion of the book of Isaiah brings such hope and comfort.
We learn that fear and faith do not hold the same space and cannot really exist together. Loneliness can bring fear, but the promise of God is that we have divine companionship and therefore are not alone in
this world or facing our challenges. In addition, we have a God who provides the strength and the courage needed for the path ahead. God’s presence will give to us helping hands no matter what we may
face. Let faith, not fear be your focus for the New Year.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing me this far, and thank you for guaranteeing my future protection. Amen
