WEEKLY DEVOTION – OCTOBER 4, 2020
“Living Transformed Lives”
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Combined with the invitation to become living sacrifices in Romans chapter 12:1-2, is the command to not conform to the ways and means of this present world, by adapting to values that contradict the way of truth, love, peace, and justice. We are to live according to the will and purpose of God in contrast to what the world, without God, calls us to embrace or deny.
We are not our own, we belong to God, our lives are intertwined with divinity through the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sins of the world, that means yours and mine. In response to the outpouring of God’s love and mercy to us, we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to the work of God for good in the world. This sacred offering represents our true and proper worship.
Therefore we are to live with the promise of renewed minds and spirits which then allows us to understand the will of God that is good, pleasing and perfect. This enlightened understanding provides for a life growth, creative change and solid hope for facing the challenges before us. This spiritual surrender ushers us into a continual life of transformation with the hope of new possibilities.
Thank you, Lord, for your mercy upon which we stand to live life to the
fullest and to receive from you the abundant life. For Christ’s sake. Amen
