WEEKLY DEVOTION – NOVEMBER 01, 2020
“It Is Good to Pray”
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:1-4
The scripture makes it very clear that praying for our government is a good thing to do and a pleasing thing in the sight of God. It seems clear also that of all the times to pray for our nation and our government it is so crucial now.
We live in a world where it is hard to know truth from error, right from wrong, and good from bad. However, the Word of God serves as a mighty resource for those who seek to know the truth, the right and the good. So, there is no excuse not to pursue what is the best way for living and the best way for governing. We can do the right thing with the aid of God’s revelation.
Let us pray then for the spiritual enlightenment of our nation and for our national leaders. Let us pray for a nation of justice, righteousness, unity and peace. Let us pray for all the citizens who need the wholesome functioning of a good government where all can feel safe and valued. Let us pray for the most vulnerable and especially for those who are often overlooked and discounted.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
Dear God, please save America and bring your kingdom in our midst for all to see your righteousness and glory. Amen
