“Love Is Indispensable”
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
The need for love in our lives cannot be overstated. We need love and we need to show love to be well adjusted and to lead a life of happiness and meaning.
During a conflict in the early church of Corinth, the Apostle Paul pressed for “the most excellent way.” It was then a way beyond divisions and unnecessary comparisons in the community of faith. They argued about who had the greatest gifts from God, and they compared themselves to one another related to spiritual attainments. But Paul helped the church to focus upon what is important, and that is human relationships dominated by the presence and the power of love.
Love is not about proud and selfish comparisons, instead love is about service to others, building bridges of understanding and character development. It is not only the hope for the world, but also the hope for the family and the church.
Lord, your love transforms me. Teach me to love others in ways that will mean true and positive change. Amen
