“The Victory Over Fear”
The promise in Isaiah chapter 41 and verse 10 is a promise of a life sustained by victory regardless of what we face in the battles of life. It comes as an imperative to the believing community, “so do not fear … do not be dismayed …”
The victory over fear is related to the promise of the presence of God. It is not based on our initiative or determination. It is simply based upon the presence of God in life, “I am with you.” The sheer knowledge of this promise is reassuring. And along with the promise is the experience of walking with God and talking to God and feeling the protection of God’s Spirit all around us.
In addition to the victory over fear, is the victory over discouragement and depression. Based solely upon the power of a personal God. When the storm clouds gather on the horizon of our bright skies, there is a God of power and demonstrative love who is with us and shows up on time to carry us through. God’s promise and God’s love will get you through.
“I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Dear God, thank you for always showing up on time and in power and love. Amen
