WEEKLY DEVOTION – March 14, 2021
“Just Come”
One of the most beautiful invitations is found in Matthew’s gospel the eleventh chapter and the 28-30 verses. The image is of a loving good shepherd, with caring eyes, and a nurturing presence, reaching out and inviting you to experience a new life. What a promise of relief and rest is found in the words and the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The invitation is for all of us who find life laborious sometimes. The battles of life can drain us of energy and vitality. We get tired striving to find our way through the storms of life, fighting for the right way in life and the right things to do. The promise of the Master is a rest that is linked with the knowledge that our lives are in the hands of God and in a vital loving relationship.
A significant part of experiencing the promised relief is our initiative and intention to open our hearts and lives to God. It is then that we partner with God to discover and live out the abundant life. We also learn the depth of his gentleness and kindness. As we rest in the presence of God the burdens of our lives just seem to fly away.
Dear Lord Jesus, I come to you to rest from the burdens of life to find courage to face my challenges. Amen
